Kleenheat is one of Western Australia’s most trusted retail natural gas providers, known for reliability and community connection. In a rapidly electrifying energy market, Kleenheat committed to diversifying into solar, battery, and future electrified home solutions.

The solar and battery market was confusing and frustrating for homeowners. It was fragmented and dominated by smaller, lesser-known providers. This created a trust deficit, making customers hesitant to explore renewable solutions. Kleenheat’s opportunity was clear: use their established brand credibility to bridge this gap, offering a simple, trustworthy path to home electrification.

This ambition led to Kleenheat Spark — a new digital-first customer platform designed to help households explore and adopt electrification with clarity and confidence. By combining smart mapping, instant quoting, and direct installer integration, Spark redefined what customers could expect from a contemporary energy provider in 2025.

Defining a digital-first brand

We developed the Kleenheat Spark brand to stand for clarity, confidence, and progress. We extended Kleenheat’s established brand identity into a dynamic, digital-first framework, using motion and interactivity to create an engaging experience. By anchoring Spark in the trusted Kleenheat name, we reassured customers they were making a safe choice in a complex market.

We knew that a trusted brand requires a seamless, intuitive experience. The solar and battery market was full of friction — weeks of back-and-forth, confusing quotes, and high-pressure sales. Our human-centred design approach eliminated this complexity by creating a radical new path for customers.

By combining smart aerial mapping, an instant quote calculator, and a direct installer integration, we simplified the journey from interest to installation. Customers gained immediate clarity on their home’s solar potential and received a personalised quote in minutes, all without a single phone call or email. This frictionless digital journey transformed a slow, sales-led process into a transparent, user-empowered experience, proving that a trusted brand could deliver on its promise of clarity and confidence.

Foundation for the future

We built Spark as a secure, scalable growth platform using a modern, agile tech stack. Our flexible, API-driven backend acts as a central hub, enabling a swift launch while ensuring the platform is ready for the future.

This architecture allows Spark to seamlessly connect to external services like live mapping and a network of approved installers, and it provides the foundation to easily add new electrified solutions, from EV chargers to home battery systems. Throughout the process, we designed with privacy-by-design protocols to ensure data protection is fundamental to the entire experience, giving Kleenheat and its customers complete peace of mind.
